Mission Statement

The mission of the National Hills Elementary School, in close partnership with home and community, is to create knowledgeable students with the necessary skills and attitudes to think independently, maximize their academic potential, become proficient in problem solving, and meet the challenges of the future successfully.  In combination with the community, we will provide a well qualified faculty and staff that will produce a positive atmosphere for all of our students.

From the Principal

On behalf of our faculty and staff, I want to welcome you to our school website and to the friendly and caring school that is National Hills Elementary. National Hills is located in Augusta and situated in a supportive residential neighborhood. Through the years National Hills has earned a reputation of academic excellence. The faculty and staff have worked hard to make National Hills a place where children love to come to school, where learning is our number one priority, and where close relationships are maintained with our parents and community. National Hills Elementary School, which first opened its doors to children in 1964, has an enrollment of 250 students in Pre-K through 5th grade. Our faculty and staff members represent a great mix of young and veteran professionals who are dedicated to helping every child experience academic success and develop positive attitudes regarding learning. To accomplish this, we focus on the individual needs of each student and view school as a hub of learning and critical thinking. All of our pedagogical talents and assets are directed toward helping our students reach their fullest academic potential. Through creative teaching strategies and teacher commitment, students receive a firm foundation in reading, math, science, and social science. At National Hills, we constantly strive for academic excellence in a student-centered learning environment. National Hills Elementary has been named a Distinguished School in recognition of earning Annual Yearly Progress status for five consecutive years. We strongly encourage parental involvement because we acknowledge the positive influence of the home/school alliance on the success of our students. Once again, welcome to our website and please feel free to visit your child's school. Working together, we can make this a challenging and successful year for your child!

Dr. Charles Thompson
